Anita Kapila

ANITA KAPILA

 Anita Kapila is one of the new Roving Tutors for Wales delivering the education programme for Swim Wales. She joined the team in September 2009.
 Anita has a varied and extensive background in the customer service industry, and she worked with the Royal Bank of Scotland for 7 years before she left to have her children. 
 Anita then worked for the BBC as a radio producer / presenter for 8 years at BBC GMR Talk and Radio Lancashire presenting magazine programmes and news & current affairs.
 Anita was a Board member for Anchor Trust who are the leading provider of sheltered housing for the frail & elderly in the UK.
 After this, Anita started her career in swimming and started a swim school and has been involved in swimming for nearly 11years.
 Anita has been tutoring for the ASA / IOS for over 7 years and covered the North West & North -East region. Courses Anita can deliver are Teaching Aquatics Level 1 & Level 2, Adult & Child, Helpers Certificate & CPDs.
 Anita has two daughters who are 23yrs & 20yrs old respectively and both are in their final year at university. Both her daughters are also qualified swimming teachers. Anita has been married to Professor Bill Kapila for 25years.

Hanna rejoined the Swim Wales team in September 2009 to further expand the Education and Training team as one of the new Roving Tutors.
Previously, Hanna spent three years as Swimming Development Officer for Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council and was also Assistant Dragon Sport Co-ordinator for the Vale of Glamorgan Council and Education and Training Assistant for Swim Wales.
A Masters graduate from UWIC, Hanna has been involved in aquatics in various roles including being a member of Northampton SC and Cardiff Water Polo club, completing 200 hours volunteering for Swim Wales as a Millennium Volunteer and being a coach and the Chair of UWIC Aquatics whilst at university.
Hanna will be delivering Aquatic Teaching courses and various CPD workshops.

Csaba Rull

Csaba has joined Swim Wales as a Water Polo consultant

Csaba is a 30-year-old Hungarian Water Polo and Swimming Coach.

He studied at the Semmelweis Hungarian University of Physical Education in Budapest and worked for the Water Polo Association of Eger, Hungary, as a water polo coach.
 
In 2005 he became a FINA International Referee.and in 2006 was the Hungarian U14 Girls National Coach.
Csaba spent three years in Japan with the JET Programme and worked for Ogaki Water Polo Association as a coach and as a consultant. During his time in Japan, he achieved great results, improving  water polo at all levels.
 During the next 12 months, Csaba willl be bringing these skills to Swim Wales.  His  main aims will be to upskill coaches to UKCC level 2 in Water Polo, increase the number of Referees, to give professional guidance to coaches and referees to improve water polo in Wales and also, to increase the number of children enjoying water polo.

Catrin has worked in sports development for 12 years. Since her graduation from Loughborough University, her past work has included stints at British Gymnastics as Head of Development, Sport England as a Partnership Manager and as a Coaching Officer with the Sports Council for Wales.

 
She is a keen sportswoman whose main sport has been gymnastics, in which she has been involved as a coach, judge and participant. She has also recently completed the Cardiff Half-Marathon in well under two hours!
 
She has also been selected for the prestigious UK Sport’s Women and Leadership Development Programme that aims to prepare women for senior management positions within British sport.
 
“I am looking forward to building upon the plans that are currently being delivered to ensure a sustainable swimming structure. Sports development is going through an exiting time of change at present with the opportunities afforded by London 2012, I aim to ensure that the swimming disciplines retain a key role in influencing this change. Partnership working will play an ever increasing role in the work of the development team as swimming can play a significant role in education, health and social inclusion ”.

Diving Development consultant

 

Ben joined the Swim Wales team in February 2010 as our Diving Development Consultant. His role is to promote all aspects of Diving for Swim Wales, and work in partnership with Rhondda Cynon Taff County Borough Council to implement and help deliver diving activities at Aberdare Swimming Pool.   

 

Ben has worked in and around the leisure industry for 15 years as a Diving coach, Swimming teacher, Lifeguard and in Leisure centre management in his home town of Harrogate in the north east of England, Cambridge and in the U.S.A. Ben grew up in and around the pool environment competing as a diver and swimmer for Harrogate.

 

Ben is a keen traveller, surfer and musician and has worked summer seasons around the world as a photographer, Musician, and chef amongst other things.

 

‘It’s a very exciting time to be involved in the sport of diving, with the success of the young Tom Daley at the world championships and the overall performance of British diving since the introduction of professional Development Programmes there’s a great buzz around the sport that I hope to bring back into to Wales. Our aim is to make diving as accessible to as many people as possible across Wales, watch this space..’

Chris Joined Swim Wales in June 2010, having previously managed leisure facilities in the Neath Port Talbot area. Chris has assisted in the development of various sporting activities within his previous remit, with aquatic sports being to the forefront. Chris has also been involved in club swimming for approximately 10 years, prior to that he played, managed & coached football at various levels. With several coaching certificates in a variety of sports, Chris also attained various management qualifications, including the Post Graduate Diploma in Business & Administration at Swansea Metropolitan University.

Rhys joined the Swim Wales Team in July 2009 as the Regional Development Officer for South East Wales. He had previously spent 7 years working for Powys County Council in both facilities management and teaching / coaching roles, and has also coached Newtown and District Swimming Club.
 
A graduate of Glyndwr University Wrexham, Rhys is currently studying for a masters degree at the University of Chester, and has taught sports science to further education students for Coleg Powys in Brecon.
